The NP3 Dance Team will hold auditions online for the 2020-21 school year since the campus will be closed for the rest of the academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
NP3 dance team coaches Laura Sieglitz and Kendra Johns have decided that it was best to give all incoming freshmen as well as students returning as sophomores, juniors and seniors a chance to prepare for the audition, practice and submit their audition through social media or email.
No previous dance experience is required, the coaches said.
Auditions were originally scheduled to be held at NP3 High during the end of April and beginning of May, but changed since students will not be able to come to school to audition because of social distancing.
All students who are interested in auditioning for the next school year are required to click on this link NP3 Dance/Drill Team Virtual Auditions 2020-21 (links). It has the audition sign up, requirements, instructions, deadlines, audition routine, tutorials, exercises, contact info for coaches and captains, and application for those who are interested in being a co-captain.
Through April 26, students are being asked to prepare for auditions by stretching and exercising first at home.
Former dance team captain Justine Arizabal will release the audition video on April 27, which follows a routine that every student has to follow and practice on their own. The students then record themselves performing the dance and submitting it, once they feel confident and ready.
The final day to submit audition tapes is 11:59 p.m. on May 8 via the NP3 dance team instagram @np3dancedrillteam or by email to the coaches at [email protected] or [email protected].
