Many students probably recognize NP3’s new Assistant Principal, Daisy Vallesfino, because this is her tenth year at our school.
She has spent the last ten years teaching science classes at the high school and advising school clubs. She currently advises NP3’s Key Club, National Honor Society, and Animal and Environmental Club. Before teaching, she received degrees from both UC Davis and UCLA.
Vallesfino’s new full title is Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. This means that she oversees how curriculum and instruction are progressing at NP3. She supports teachers and students with academics and assists our principal, Ms. Mori. Her position last year as an Instructional Coach helped prepare her for these responsibilities. Right now, students can usually find Vallesfino in Ms. Mori’s office, but she also has a space in the middle room of the F building.
Vallesfino has a very calm personality, and when she is not helping staff and students at school, she prefers to relax. “I honestly just like hanging out. I don’t have to do anything too fancy, so if I’m out and about either at a bookstore or having dinner, or if I’m at home then I watch TV and relax.”
Although Vallesfino is not currently teaching while focusing on her Assistant Principal role, she is still a junior advisor and she will be with her advisory until they graduate next year. She will also teach a Forensic Science class in Term 2.
