It’s Spirit Week and today, Oct. 23 is the annual NP3 High School Homecoming basketball game. The Freshmen and Sophomores will face off first, followed by Juniors and Seniors.

This year’s theme for Homecoming is “A Night in Hollywood” and it will take place on Friday, Oct. 25 from seven to 10 p.m.

Student Government delegate Kylee Dees explained that this year, they took a different approach than last year to come up with a homecoming theme students were happy with.

“We decided to just have an in house vote and ask other students to kind of talk with others about what their ideal homecoming theme would be, and then we would bring that back to student government. This year we had masquerade or Hollywood and we voted on those two.”

Some other options for a theme were fairytale and Euphoria.

Junior students Kayla Kellogg and Aleena Iqbal both described the Hollywood theme as “basic, but good,” and were excited for good music and getting to see how everyone dresses up for the dance.

Kellogg said that when she imagines a Hollywood theme, “I think of red carpets, the Hollywood sign, and mostly just a lot of red and gold.”

Most students have probably heard that we have been joined by ten German exchange students following fall break, and this will be their first Homecoming dance.

Exchange student Lara Marie Brandtönies said she is excited to “meet new people, be part of this community, show school spirit, and of course have a great night out with my friends.” Exchange student Friedrich Gottschalk said that he’s not sure what to expect from Homecoming, but he is really excited to experience it since there is nothing similar in Germany.

Dees explained what our Student Government is currently planning for the homecoming dance, and how students should dress to fit the Hollywood theme.

“So far I think we have stars with names on the floors, we do have desks outside in the foyer with lights hung up above them, and so far just black, gold and red balloons.” She addedthat students should dress “semi formal to formal, anything you could think of that your favorite artists or actors wear.”

Students attending this year’s Homecoming should be ready to have a glamorous night with their friends that includes good music, food, and a photo booth.
