NP3 High’s Dance Team won big at the Regionals and is headed to the State competition set for this weekend.

“Performing together, we really energize each other, and then we’re so proud of how we did at the end of it,” explained Dance Team member Alexis Go Policarpio.

It is the middle of competition season for the NP3 High Dance Team, which has been awarded many first-place awards for its various performances so far. The team has competed at the Forte and Regionals competitions and will perform in the State competition this weekend.

At the Regional competition, the Dance Team won first place in multiple categories, including Dance/Drill, Large Military, All Male, and Medium Hip Hop. One of NP3’s Junior members, Jasmine Corona, also won first place in Drill Downs.

As a Junior team member, Go Policarpio felt that “we definitely kept the energy high, and we were able to push through the entire day” at Regionals.

“The fact that we are all together for an entire day … forces us to bond. It’s not just that ‘you are a part of the team, you have to bond,’ it is the fact that we’re all tired, and we’re all pushing through it together, which makes us feel more united,” she said.

The State competition is set for Saturday, Feb. 8. Even though tickets are sold out for this weekend, the team will also be competing at Nationals in March and performing at a Kings game.

The Kings’ game will be on Wednesday, Mar. 19, against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Dance Team will perform three routines at pregame and halftime. Two dances will be performed at pregame, along with one during halftime, facing section 120.

“The fact that we all get to watch a whole Kings game together, it’s just fun,” Go Policarpio explained of how King’s games feel from a performer’s perspective.

Students are encouraged to congratulate Dance Team members on their previous competitions, and support them at future performances. For more information on the Dance Team’s upcoming performances, students can contact [email protected].
