NP3 student body elections for the 2025-26 school year have are officially underway.

Campaigning has begun leading up to election day on April 30 when candidates will give a speech to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in the gym during an assembly. Students will report to the gym for this assembly to listen to the candidate speeches and when the assembly is over, return to Advisory classes to place their votes.

Each day of campaign week candidates can answer questions through daily candidate announcements which can be found here.

Running for student body president are juniors Ishan Pathak and Estefani Esther Galvez. Pathak is the current sound manager for student government and Galvez currently serves as vice president.

Both Galvez and Pathak have known they wanted to run for office since their freshmen years.

Galvez said she’s been gradually moving closer to this goal because she values how NP3 works to engage every student, with the goal of making the high school experience enjoyable for everyone.

“I think people should vote for me because my dedication to the school and to the Student Body is something that has always been a consistent part of my character,” explained Galvez. “I truly work to be a leader of and for the people.”

Pathak initially wanted to run because, “I worked closely with the officers at the time and was inspired by their work ethic and dedication to improving the school.”

Pathak said he believes that people should vote for him because he is a spirited and unique candidate.

“(I’m) ready for anything, will openly embarrass myself if I have to, but will always make sure events are highly organized and ready with backup solutions,” he explained “I would say this is unique as it kinda shows the best of both worlds.”

Two people have declared interest in running for vice president: sophomore Rhea Singh and junior Mason Takamoto.

“I believe I’m a strong candidate for vice president because my experience as student body secretary has heavily improved my leadership skills and my ability to communicate with the student body and staff,” said Singh.

Added Takamoto, “I have always had a talent for communications and public speaking as well as bringing an amazing energy to the people around me which is part of the reason why I decided to run. I was also inspired by my peers, seeing how hardworking student government is and from the encouragement from my friends and family, I decided to run for office.”

Both the secretary and treasurer races are uncontested with juniors, Nafeesah Mahmood running for secretary and Kylie Dees for treasurer.

Three students are running to be the next student NP3 Charter school board member: sophomore Morgan Flournoy, juniors Abdullah Mazhar, and Alexxia Serratos.

Flournoy decided to run because of her skills such as organization and public speaking.

“People should vote for me because I am responsible, outgoing and trustworthy and would make sure that the school board and booster members are aware of what is going on at the school and that our student government is aware of what is going on at the meetings,” she said.

Added Mazhar, “I will ensure everyone’s needs from the school are met in a reasonable fashion, and I am also genuinely passionate about being involved in a position that has an active role in student government, therefore I will be a dedicated, open and qualified member of student government.”

Serratos did not respond to a request for comment.

For the appointed positions of communications officer and sound manager, students must apply and go through an interview process to be considered for the position. Aleena Sarwar will be the next communications officer and Jonathon Bradbury will be a sound manager in-training, meaning he will be sound manager for the 2026-27 school year, while Ahmed Sohail, the current sound manager in-training will be the sound manager for the 2025-26 school year.
