Natomas community members have the chance to save up to three lives at a Red Cross-sponsored blood drive on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025.
The event will be held in the NP3 gymnasium and is open to anyone in the community, regardless of whether they attend NP3. To schedule an appointment, interested individuals can visit the Red Cross website at RedCrossBlood.org and search for an available appointment at NP3. Additionally, NP3 students and non-students under the age of 18 must have a parental consent form signed and presented when they go to donate.
The blood drive is supporting the Senior Project of NP3 senior Aleena Iqbal. Her project focuses on disaster preparedness, and she serves as the president of the Red Cross club on campus.
“We wanted to plan this drive to do our part as a Red Cross chapter and help raise blood to give to disaster services to help save lives,” said Iqbal.
Each person’s blood donation goes to those in need affected by disasters or emergencies, and a single donation can help as many as three different people.
According to Iqbal, “None of it goes to waste, and more is always needed because of the variety of different blood types.”
The Red Cross website states that those wishing to donate must be in good health and at least 110 pounds, and Iqbal says, “only donate if you are comfortable doing so.” For further donation requirements, those interested can visit the Red Cross website.
Additionally, members of NP3’s Red Cross club can receive five volunteer hours for donating on Monday, and two additional hours for each person they bring in to donate with them. Red Cross has also partnered with PAC-MAN, so each person who donates blood at the drive will receive a pair of PAC-MAN socks.
If community members are unable to attend the blood drive on Monday, Red Cross club will be hosting another drive on Jan. 8, 2026 at Tarbia House Natomas, 3780 Rosin Court, and students are encouraged to attend and bring their friends and family to donate, said Iqbal.
