The annual Treasure Chest Multicultural Festival is scheduled to take place on Jan. 31 to celebrate the NP3’s diverse community.
The event will showcase a series of cultural performances, music, and food from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NP3 gym.
At the event, clubs and food trucks will sell various cultural foods, such as gyros, samosas, and lumpia. Performances will feature the unique cultures of the NP3 student body.
“The Treasure Chest Multicultural Festival offers something for everyone—whether it’s trying new foods, enjoying live performances, or discovering something new about a culture they’ve never encountered before,” said Ashley Silas, the primary organizer of the student government event and an NP3 Middle School social studies teacher. “It’s also a great opportunity to celebrate and show pride in our NP3 community while supporting their friends.”
The festival is one of the only events that ties together all three NP3 schools, families, and community members.
“The Treasure Chest Multicultural Festival creates a space where everyone feels valued and seen, which is at the heart of fostering an inclusive environment. It also encourages students to appreciate the unique perspectives and contributions that each person brings to NP3,” said Silas.
Added Ishan Pathak, a junior student government representative and sound manager at NP3 High said NP3 has one of the most diverse student bodies he has ever seen.
“I think it is very important for our school to be able to share and express all of our cultures, especially through really good food and cool performances,” said Pathak, who attended the event the previous year. “(I)…can guarantee no one will be disappointed with everything that is showcased this year.”
