An upcoming city-sponsored event aims to connect young people ages 13 to 24 with job and career opportunities and resources.

The Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment Department will host the Youth Resource & Employment Fair this Saturday, March 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at New City Hall, located at 915 I Street, Sacramento.

“We want to equip young people with the tools and connections they need to succeed,” said Kris Wimberly, YPCE Recreation Superintendent. “Whether they’re searching for their first job, a summer opportunity, or long-term career guidance, this event provides an important steppingstone.”

According to Sacramento City Express more than 30 vendors, including trade schools, higher education, financial institutions, and other industries, are expected to attend. Attendees will have access to information on stipend-based programs, seasonal employment, and long-term career opportunities.

Several City of Sacramento departments and programs will be present, including:

  • Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment
  • Access Leisure
  • Aquatics
  • Camp Sacramento

Additional vendors will include organizations such as Aldea, Inc., Another Choice, Another Chance, Bond Driving School, and the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation. The Sacramento Public Library, PRO Youth & Families, Sacramento Valley Manufacturing Alliance, and several other local organizations will also be in attendance.

SacRT will offer free rides on fixed-route buses and light rail from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the event when presented with a presentation of the event flyer, ensuring easy access to the fair.

Registration for the event will be open on-site starting at 9:15 a.m., but pre-registration is now available online prior to the event.

“We encourage online registration allowing youth to easily check in for the event,” said Wimberly.

Registered participants will have a chance to win raffle prizes and receive a swag bag, while supplies last.
