The Drama Club’s production of “Deadline” is set for the stage from April 9-11, 2026.

Tickets are available for purchase during lunch from April 6-8 for $7 each, and at the door, they will be $10 each.

“Deadline” is a fast-paced drama/comedy play that features eight writers who are invited to a remote gothic island mansion for a “deadline challenge” to write a novel in 24 hours. The play is about a high-stakes competition to plan and execute a murder for the $1 million reward. It’s meant to be funny while also suspenseful as characters navigate their mission.

At the start of the year, the cast received acting lessons to improve their skills and have worked on blocking for most of the year. During blocking, actors plan their movements, positions, and lines, and work to perfect them in preparation for the production in April. They were required to memorize lines and the play’s lengthy script. During meetings on Wednesdays and Fridays, cast members continue to go through rehearsals and blocking to practice their lines.

“I’m so grateful for the incredible members I get to work with throughout this process; each one’s hard work contributes to our final product, and we truly couldn’t do it without them!” said Drama Club president, senior Nicole Takamoto.

The crew, who work backstage, have also prepared for the production in different ways. Crew teams begin the year by brainstorming their plans and then executing those plans. While the cast worked on blocking, different crew teams were in charge of creating props, building the set, preparing costumes, preparing hair and makeup, promoting the show on social media, and handling sound effects and lighting for the play.

Crew teams prepare for the play by building or buying props, making the set out of various materials and paint, buying or finding clothes for the actors, practicing hair and makeup on members of the club, posting on social media, and practicing the sound effects and lighting for the play.

“Working behind the scenes is a lot of work as there are so many things that the crew do to make the acting shine with details and effects. I personally had a lot of fun creating the official flyer for this year and working on props to make some pretty cool items,” said media and advertising team manager, senior Kenny Ren.

April 9 and 10 showtimes will be set for 6-8:00 p.m. and April 11 showtime will be 2-4:00 p.m.in room E-1.
