Attention all students from 8th-11th grade! Dance team is holding auditions from April 22-26 in the gym after school.
If anyone is interested in joining NP3’s award-winning team, give it a try! No previous dance experience is required and the desire to improve is encouraged.
“Everyone’s got talent inside them that they don’t know exists,” said Laura Sieglitz, a teacher at NP3 and the founder and coach of the dance team.
During the auditions, the new dancers will be paired with the old dancers for support. The process from Monday to Thursday will be learning a routine and some dance basics from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Friday at 4:30 p.m., those trying out will perform a dance routine in front of a panel of judges, coaches from other schools, which will grade those auditioning on their memorization, control and teamwork.
“Just take a chance, the worse thing is that you might regret it,” said Sieglitz. “Dancers always talk about what a great experience this is.”
To prepare for the auditions, work on core muscles and flexibility as well as memorization. Being able to perform the splits and headstands is an advantage in the auditions, but neither are required. Another great way for preparing is meeting with the coaches before and/or during the auditions to improve the routine.
When going to the auditions, please tie hair back, wear tennis shoes and athletic clothing. Make sure to bring water to stay hydrated!

Sieglitz added, “Even if they don’t make it, they accomplish something.”
