The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent school closure has caused all of NP3 High’s events to be canceled for the spring term.
That includes a rally scheduled for April 3, prom on April 11, Natomas 5K on April 25, senior sunset on May 1, Quadchella on May 8, crowning on May 20, grad night on May 22, and graduation on May 30. All AP tests, which would have taken place in May, have been moved online.
Crowning is a school tradition where each senior designs a cardboard crown to pass down to a junior who will be entering their senior year. Grad night is a one-day event where seniors would travel by bus to Universal Studios in Los Angeles and spend 24 hours at the park.
According to the Captain’s Log, students who have already paid for grad night and prom will be sent refund checks in early May.
Although the NP3 campus is closed, school clubs have been encouraged to hold online meetings. Some have already resumed meeting, using platforms such as Google Hangouts or Discord to communicate.
