NP3 High’s student government elections will be held online on May 8.

All freshman, sophomores and juniors will be able to vote in the election.

The election is being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic which forced the NP3 High campus to close until May 29, the last day of the school year.

The positions to be decided this election season are president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and student board member.

To be eligible to run for office a student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing in all classes.

Current freshmen were allowed to run for treasurer and secretary. Current sophomores were allowed to run for these positions as well as vice president and student board member. Current juniors could run for any position.

Along with those elected posts, every advisory class will have one representative, chosen by the teacher.

A statement of interest to run for student government was required to be submitted by April 23. The official deadline to apply to run for office was April 30.

Online campaigns will start Monday, May 4 and run through the end of the week.  Online voting will take place 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 8.

The two positions which have more than one candidate are president and vice president.

For president three students are running: Tuan Huynh, Carroll Loupeda and Rory Marco.

For vice president there are two students running: Janelle Calma and Makaiae Gonzales.

Only one student, Tatiana Segura, is running for treasurer. Ximena Francisco, Anthony Thang and Rachel Long are running for student board member.

At press time, there were no candidates running for secretary.

The advisory class with the most participation in the student government election will win a doughnut party.
