The ASL Club at NP3 is making a Christmas-themed music video expected to be released during finals week.
The music video will use “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. All members of the club are in the video, including teachers Peter Riehl, Jonathan England, Melissa Ciubal, and former teacher Alejandro Chan-Artiga.
Isabella Bravo, a member of the ASL Club, said making videos can be a way to learn American Sign Language. Bravo was featured in the club’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” music video last year.
“We thought that it was fun so we wanted to continue doing videos for others to also learn ASL,” she said.
All ASL Club members contribute to making videos such as making props or building sets. The club plans to film two videos, one for Christmas and one closer to the end of the school year.
Club members sold gratitude grams before Thanksgiving break to help cover costs related to making the videos.
The grams featured sign language signs such as “I love you,” “friendship” and “friend,” said one of the club leaders Bernadette Jhen Sembrano.
