Stephanie Labang’s Senior Project aims to assist women and children in getting stable housing. For her project, she partnered with Saint John’s to achieve this goal.

Saint John’s helps women and children get a house and gives them the resources to sustain themselves. Saint John’s website reads, “Since 1985, we’ve given more than 30,000 previously homeless women and children the essential tools and knowledge to change the trajectory of their lives.”

Her project includes collecting items Saint John’s has requested. Labang is hosting a donation drive from Feb. 5 to Feb. 23. So far, four large bags of women’s clothing have been collected.

Donations may be placed in the box right next to the door inside Ms. Ho’s classroom (H4). The items requested are women’s and children’s clothing, diapers, shampoo and conditioner, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, and new towels. The picture below shows the items needed from the highest priority to the lowest priority.

Items donated may also be counted toward Key Club and NHS hours.

Labang has also set up a fundraiser for “Fundraise for Saint Johns by Saint John’s Program for Real Change.” The fundraiser will continue into March, and the goal is to raise $500.

“This is part of my senior project efforts, which stemmed from my personal desire to support those in our society that need it the most. I believe that as a community, we can provide much-needed assistance to countless women and children in Sacramento,” Labang wrote on her fundraiser page “ Your generosity makes a meaningful difference in their lives!”
