NP3’s Drama Club is currently one night away from opening night in their play ‘Squad Room.’
The play is a 1970’s comedy set in a police station, featuring enthralling characters like detectives, criminals, and more!
Show days are April 10, 11, and 12 from 6:00-8:00pm. Presale tickets will be sold for $5 at school during lunch, and $10 at the door.
“Everyone basically has an equal amount of lines,” Monica Castillo, Drama Club President said. “Last year was kinda different, we had one main character with like 300 lines and everyone has like 10 or 20. This year, everyone has like 10-30 lines, the highest one with 50.”
Added Bernice Ng, “Each team has a different responsibility, and towards Spring Break is when things get really hectic. We all show off what we have and we build our stage too.”
In the club, there are teams that manage parts of the play like sets, props, makeup, costumes, media, food, light, and sound. There are also directors and stage managers.
“Over the Summer, we spent a bunch of time deciding a couple of options of plays to do. Then we come back in the Fall and start having meetings,” Castillo said, “then we all vote on which production we like the best.”
Ng added, “Am I excited for the show? Absolutely! I am a bit nervous that things might go wrong but it has never happened in the past, and we always go right back into acting if anything happens. We have spent the entire school year preparing.”
