She is such a good teacher that her students might be surprised to learn that it wasn’t Jasmine Daragahi’s first career choice.

According to Daragahi, she initially wanted to become a pediatrician, but made the switch after shadowing doctors and teachers, when she realized that teaching would be a more suitable career for her personality.

Daragahi said she has always been drawn to working with younger people. Her interactions with students and other teachers on campus are what cemented her decision to teach instead of becoming a pediatrician.

When she teaches, Daragahi said she focuses on relationships because they mean a lot to her and to her students.

“I love teaching,” she said. “I specifically love how each day is so different and the fact that I’m constantly interacting with students.”

Daragahi got her teaching credential from UC Davis. She was a student teacher with Teresa Huang for a year and became a full-time teacher in 2023.

Daragahi currently teaches chemistry, biology, and AP biology. This year, she also became a senior advisor.

“I think I just want to be the best teacher I can be, that obviously takes a lot of practice and a lot of years so I’m just trying to learn from more experienced teachers, just bring my best self everyday,” she explained.

Daragahi’s favorite part of being at NP3 is the tight-knit community and the way it’s so easy to get to know staff and students.
