Taylor Chambers never imagined she’d become a teacher—yet since fall 2025 she’s been igniting curiosity in NP3 students to unravel the mysteries of biology and explore the science behind our world.
Chambers said she began college with plans to study biology and become a pathologist. However, a professor’s career suggestion changed her path. After observing one of her professor’s teaching style, Chambers recognized her own strength in connecting with people and she realized teaching was the right fit for her.
Chambers was raised in Southern California. She earned an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education – Biology, as well as her teaching credential, from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, in 2024.
This year is Chambers’ first year as a teacher. Currently, she is a senior class advisor and teaches biology and experimental science.
“Ms. Chambers is very kind and understanding, and she is a teacher who you can talk to easily because she doesn’t have a huge age difference, which makes her relate to what we are talking about,” said Kayla Kellogg, one of Chambers’s advisory students. “I wish I could have her as one of my subject teachers.”
Chambers explained that her main priority in teaching is building relationships with her students.
“If my students don’t trust in me or believe in me, then anything else I say is not going to matter to them,” said Chambers. “If I can teach science, I can instill some passion into students like I had when I had cool science teachers.”
Chambers said “seeing my students every day and playing around with science” is what motivates her to come to school every day.
Chambers said that she loves being in nature and enjoys exploring her surroundings, including how they are created and why, which is one of the main reasons she chose science as her career.
She specified her love of science by adding, “I love knowing why things are and how things work. I’m just a curious person in nature. I constantly like to continue to learn. Anything that revolves around nature and being outdoors are my favorites. I love fishing, kayaking, swimming.”
