On the 29th of February the NP3 High school AAU basketball team played in their first tournament this school year. This tournament was called “Hoopin @The Grounds.” The tournament consisted of three games and the team with the most wins won the tournament. The tournament was held at the Hardwood Palace in Roseville.
The first tournament game started at about 3 p.m. and the Pirates played the Nor Cal Dynasty. The score was 59 to 42 in favor of the Nor Cal Dynasty. NP3 High player, Subeg Singh stated following this game, “I think it was a great learning experience and we were all able to see the height and skill of all the other players, so we are prepared for the next time we play.”
The second game was played at 4:45 and the Pirates played the YBA White who won the game 63 to 18. NP3 High player, Dwayne Knight-Wilkins, commented following the game, “They were a good team and we just need to bring our game to the next level so we can win our next game.”
The third game started at 6:45 and the Pirates played the Free Agents and they won the game 72 to 67. NP3 High player, Xavier Burks expressed after the game, “We played well, but there were a few plays that we could have played harder on to get a win.”
The YBA White were the eventual winners of the tournament and the NP3 Pirates look to turn around their disappointing start of the season at a tournament on the 14th of March at the March Madness series at the Hardwood Palace in Roseville.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, all school-related activities including basketball has been postponed indefinitely.
