NP3 High Seniors, Jazelle Lewis and Andres Maldonado, brought therapy dogs to campus on March 12 to help calm students after their first midterms.
This event was a part of both Lewis’ and Maldonado’s senior projects.
“The purpose of my senior project was to promote emotional wellness through animal-assisted therapy,” said Lewis.
The seniors brought four dogs into the library along with representatives of the non-profit organization Lend A Hand.
The event was met with huge success. The were many students waiting outside of the library and a standing-room only crowd of student who wanted to meet the dogs.
The event was planned to be held over two days, however, due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, the second day of midterms was canceled as well as the second day of therapy dogs on campus.
