NP3 Middle and High were named distinguished schools by the California Department of Education.
Schools are eligible for the award based on performance and progress on state indicators. Examples of indicators include test scores, suspensions rates, conditions and climates.
“These schools are great examples of California’s commitment to provide outstanding public education for all students, and their data-driven efforts have helped ensure that their students leave with the tools and skills they need to be successful after graduation,” said Tony Thurmond the California state superintendent.
The award is sponsored by the California Department of Education and is presented by California Casualty and schools who have closed the achievement gap or have achieved exceptional student performance were awarded this status.
Schools who are awarded this title hold on to it for two years as elementary schools and middle and high schools are awarded in opposite years.
Distinguished schools represent examples of excellent teaching, learning, collaboration and highly successful data-driven school efforts such as professional development and positive behavior intervention according to a press release from the California Department of Education.
NP3 middle and high school were the only schools in the Natomas Unified School District to win the award.
