Student Government is a student-run class that plans and manages events at NP3, where students develop leadership and communication skills. Now offered as a second period class, in which officer elections are held every year during April and May. Meet the 2024-2025 Student Government Officers, and learn about their experience in their position and the differences they make in our school community.
“I first wanted to run for office when I was a freshman and I really enjoyed my experience in it. This is my fourth year in student government and my third year as a communications officer. I love decorating for dances and homecoming, it can be a lot of work but it’s super fun and I really enjoy it. It’s 100% student run, and you get to meet with different people… I love getting to interact with so many different people. It’s so fun to see the outcomes and to see everyone having fun at our events.” —Belle Bravo, Co-Communications Officer
“I decided to run for office because I truly wanted to get better at my leadership skills and wanted to get in the behind-the-scenes of all the events. My overall experience in student government has been pretty good thanks to the fact that I have been able to make a difference. I would recommend student government to those who want to contribute to the school. It teaches you to talk to others, think more thoroughly, and learn not only in-class skills but life skills too.” —Esther Galvez, Vice President
“My role was appointed to me, and I did it last year as a trainee…I liked learning the ropes slowly. You definitely meet a lot of people, and learn about yourself and leadership, and communicate to others. It’s not only just fun, you get to learn a lot of life skills, so I think it’s really worth it. But planning-wise, I think February fling is probably the best…It’s a good experience, you meet a lot of people, you get your name out there, and it’s good to know that you’re helping out.” —Ishan Pathak, Sound Manager
“I decided to run for office because ever since I was young, I’ve seen myself in a leadership role, and here in high school, I took the opportunity to have one…Now as an officer, it feels like I belong, and this is something I look forward to. I would recommend student government to those who are trying to be more social, and those who are trying to be more involved with the community…Joining student government you definitely get more comfort and more belonging faster than not being in student government.” —Ava Sison, Board Member
“I decided to run for office not only to pursue advertising, but also because of the management around the school like the Instagram accounts, TikTok accounts, and advertising in other clubs… My favorite event that I have planned is probably the Winter Wonderjam every year, I feel like it’s a very comfortable atmosphere. I’d recommend Student Government because as someone who’s really trying to get involved with our school, you get to open up to a new perspective because you get to see so many new people…” —Kenny Ren, Co-Communications Officer
“I decided to run for student body treasurer because I wanted the opportunity to foster skills like leadership, communication, teamwork, organization, and having the ability of being confident in public speaking…Some of my favorite events that I have helped plan out are the February Fling, and First Fridays. I would recommend taking Student Government because students can have their voice in important things/ideas. It also helps students to feel more connected to their school and develop a sense of responsibility and ownership.” —Jaznam Thandi, Treasurer
