NP3’s annual student government election is scheduled for tomorrow, April 29, 2026.

Candidates started campaigning last Wednesday, April 22, 2026, by hanging posters with catchy phrases such as “Keep funds on track, Colby’s got your back” and “Vote Rhea 4 Prez” around school and by touting their skills in organization, communication, and more on social media.

Campaigning will continue through election day, Wednesday, when the candidates for each position will give speeches in the gymnasium to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at an assembly during advisory.

Students will cast their votes using Google Forms. Seniors will not attend the assembly or vote.

This year, the positions of vice president, secretary, and student board member are uncontested. Junior Ty Patterson will serve as the student body vice president, junior Emily Sanethavong as secretary, and junior Morgan Flournoy as the student board member for the second consecutive term. Juniors Rhea Singh and Sierra Reyes were initially both running for student body president. However, Reyes was disqualified from running for not following campaign rules, leaving Singh as next year’s president.

As a result, NP3 students will only be able to vote for the treasurer position. Juniors Colby Durham, Aarna Maharaj, and Tala Mazhar are all running for this post.

Maharaj said she wants to be treasurer because of the role’s diversity: the treasurer works with both money and events. She added that although she has had less experience in Student Government than her fellow candidates, she has real-life experience with finances.

“My mom is a banker so I do a lot of money stuff, and whenever my family has parties I am one of the people that helps set up and calls people,” said Maharaj.

Mazhar said she was inspired to run for treasurer after working closely with NP3’s current treasurer, senior Kylie Dees.

Mazhar said that she is a unique candidate because she is currently on the Student Government treasury committee. She added that as a Dance Team leader, she also knows “how to keep things organized and work with people.”

Durham said she stands out as a candidate because of her math capabilities.

“I know that makes me sound like a nerd, but I am extremely talented with math and I think that having such high capabilities makes it so I can do simple tasks faster and with good accuracy,” said Durham.

She went on to add that because she has a commanding voice, she believes she can help discussions run smoothly.
