As the end of the fall semester approaches, many of NP3’s seniors are completing their applications to colleges and universities.
The admission deadlines for undergraduate students applying to the University of California and California State University have already passed, but many out-of-state and private colleges can still be applied to using the Common Application.
“When students are applying to a UC or a CSU, they have to use those specific applications,” said NP3 counselor Lindsay Ulrich. “But when students apply to private schools, they can use the Common App or they can go directly to the school’s website and use their specific application.”
Ulrich also explained that deadlines are different for every school, so students will want to keep track of those dates. For the best chance at success, she recommends these three things:
“I would recommend applying early, attending the college application workshops, and if you have any questions, ask us early since counselors are off during break,” Ulrich added.
The Common App has made a Quick Guide that shows the basics of the application.
Students may also want to apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to help pay for college. For the 2021-22 school year, the deadline for submitting the FAFSA is June 30, 2022.
More information on the FAFSA is available here. Students may also be interested in the Common Application Website and Common App Quick Guide.
