NP3 High school administrators recently confirmed that a senior trip to Universal Studios will take place from Friday, May 13 to Saturday, May 14, 2022.

The cost of the trip is $175 per person and students may give the money to their advisors. Seniors will leave the morning of May 13 and take a bus to Universal Studios. Students will be at the park from 4 p.m to 2 a.m.

The special grad-night experience at Universal Studios includes shorter lines, graduation-themed photo opportunities, and live music performances hosted by DJs.

Now that a senior trip has been planned, questions remain whether a prom is also on the cards.

“We need it,” said senior Lyric Charnell-Gebrehawariat.

The Pacific Times reached out to students and the high school principal, Melissa Mori, to ask about the prospect of a prom.

Mori stated she is optimistic there will be a prom assuming the current COVID-19 surge ends quickly.

“If we have a prom, we will likely have it at an outdoor venue. We are looking at past venues that were outside, as well as locations in Natomas, but we don’t have anything currently reserved,” she added.

If a prom is held, two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and a booster shot will be required to attend. In addition, a negative test might also be required for fully vaccinated and boosted students. Unvaccinated students may be allowed to attend if they provide a negative test taken within the specified time frame.

While a prom is likely, Mori explained that it will depend on COVID-19 guidance from Sacramento County Public Health officials regarding large events and the case rates closer to April.
