Sacramento officials this month have reopened 17 library branches including the one located in South Natomas.
According to the Gates Foundation, millions of Americans rely on public libraries for internet access and resources.
Library director and CEO Rivkah Sass knows it has been a struggle.
“While we have been able to serve the community with curbside service and virtual programming,” Sass said in a press release, “We know that it has been a struggle for many without access to our services.”
Libraries such as the South Natomas branch have limited capacity and appointments are required to use computers and printers. Curbside pickup and returns are also still available.
The following rules are meant to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 while at the library:
- Face coverings are required.
- Social distancing is required.
- Visits limited to one hour.
Library branches are also disinfecting surfaces regularly and open for limited hours.
“We are so excited to open our doors and welcome you back. Your next visit may look a little different, but know that restoring access and keeping you safe is our top priority,” said Sass.
The North Natomas library is yet to reopen. However, the North Natomas library will continue curbside pickup and return services.
