Tatiana Segura is a creative, responsible, and multi-talented student at NP3 High School.
Segura has attended NP3 since sixth grade and is currently a sophomore in Kirsten Spall’s advisory.
“I’ve been at NP3 since sixth grade and I’ve never regretted my decision,” she said.
She claims her favorite thing about the school is its small, easy to navigate campus, and the numerous opportunities to learn and improve.
“I really like that NP3 gives us the opportunity to learn, to get help when we need it, and improve our score by giving second chances with assessments,” she said.
After being away for so long due to the pandemic, Segura misses student interaction in different classes. She particularly favors Spanish class because it is her second language and she enjoys learning new terms and improving her writing skills.
“I miss the events, and having less homework,” Segura said. “I’m excited to go back and be able to see and interact with my teachers and peers when we do go back.”
Segura holds the position of treasurer in student government. As treasurer, she is in charge of maintaining the student government budget and keeping track of expenses that are made. Segura’s favorite part about her position is helping to plan the events held at NP3 High School.
“My favorite part of my position is that I not only get to keep track of the money, but I also get to be part of the team that makes and plans the fun and creative events that are held at NP3,” she said. “During this time, Hallowednesday was pretty fun because it was my first time in student government and it was fun to plan an event that was outside of a computer screen, socially distanced.”
Outside of school, Segura has several interests and hobbies. One of them is being a competitive dancer in seven different styles; jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater, hip hop, and pointe.
“I think my favorite out of all those styles has to be hip hop because I get to bring out my sassy side.”
Although Segura is not part of any clubs on campus, she spends her free time hanging out with her family, hiking, baking, and watching movies. Segura claims that her favorite dessert to bake is brownies, and her favorite movies are Fast and Furious 7 and Aladdin.
“The live action, I love that one,” she said when asked if she preferred the live action adaptation of Aladdin to the cartoon. “I watch it almost like every day.”
One of Segura’s goals is to one day visit Jamaica.
“I love anywhere that has beaches, and is tropical, and Jamaica fits the criteria.”
Another goal of hers is to one day become an FBI agent.
“I love anything and everything to do with crime,” Segura said. “In order to get into this job, I have to have a criminal justice degree, so when I go to college I will get that.”
She plans to attend a local university such as San Diego State University to earn her criminal justice degree.
