Multi-subject tutoring is being offered to NP3 middle schoolers after school by current seniors and recent graduate Jaclyn Nguyen.

Nguyen holds tutoring sessions from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday in Nicolas Kons’s room, Room 210. Sessions will be offered through March for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

“We currently have 10 tutors and are open to having more,” said Nguyen, who graduated from NP3 High School in 2022.

Tutors are assigned to middle school students and will work with them on a one-to-one basis to help with homework and other school work in various subjects. Nguyen said tutors fill out a preference form before joining the program so they help the students with the subjects with which they are comfortable.

“My tutoring experience is something I put in my own resume, and employers like to talk to me about it,” Nguyen said.

Any senior currently with a free fourth period or with internship for fourth period may apply to become a tutor. Tutoring can also be used to earn volunteer or service hours and is a way to help out the NP3 community, Nguyen said.

Nguyen added that seniors who participate in the tutoring program will receive a scholarship for half of the payment for Senior Trip. However, tutors who miss multiple sessions or fail to inform Kons about their absence, will be dropped from the program and not eligible for the scholarship.

“Through tutoring, tutors refresh and solidify their understanding of academic topics, as well as work on their communication and people’s skills,” Nguyen said.

To become a tutor, fill out this Google form and join the tutoring Google classroom. Send questions to Nguyen at [email protected].
